I bet he did t pay anybody one dime to design it! I bet he plugged the 3 dimensional data from a ubiquitous German car of the ~70's in a computer.
The here is what he did next. He plugged the 3 dimensional data for perhaps every car made over the years of the models in production to see how we the body design changed in numerical terms. Hence he created an algorithm of design change.
Then he applied that algorithm of design change to the dimensional days of that most popular German ~70's car. And it printed out current designs and parameters.
And it there was probably no labor intensive data entry involved. Perhaps all that was required was a specific 3d scanning type camera.
And to be fair some design parameters may be due to unique drivetrain and resultant suspension requirements.
