Does a person believe themselves to be a victim of addiction?
Are they willing to state that they consider themselves to be a victim of addiction?
If they are willing to state that then perhaps you could bar them from the temptation of addiction by preventing them from purchasing addictive drugs that are legally available.

And what if they are unable to see it for themselves? But their family recognizes it? And their family suffers because of it?
For you to make a counterpoint to the above would be the equivalent of you saying that family should suffer their entire lives? You don't realize that is what it means though.

Ps. And how many United States Citizens suffer because of their meat head neighbors addiction?
I have gone fishing in my boat. Been out 400 yards from shore in the water and have some meat head drunk yelling at me. Can you imagine what it would be like to be a neighbor to that person?
