Politicians are Celebrities Today 04 14 2011
Politicians are celebrities.  “If you don’t have the talent to be a true celebrity become politicians!,” that is what the affluent and wealthy seek to do when out of school and directionless. Why?  This is how they spend money to make a statement that they are indeed better- to become a political celebrity.  If you can neither sing nor dance should you decide to become a politician?  If you can wear the suit and act the part today you might have a chance at becoming a political celebrity.  If you lack substance but have money backing you have a good chance at also becoming a political celebrity.  If you know how to bluntly say no to anything that is to the greater good of the people you have a good chance at becoming a political celebrity.  If you father was also an actor you might be a good one too.  If you have attained celebrity status through other means you also have a good chance of becoming a political celebrity.
Is experience in Government really a benefit to becoming a responsible political appointee?  The ability to constructively organize programs that truly benefit communities, like Barrack Obama did would seem to be more relevant.
Do political celebrities fulfill the responsibilities of their positions?
Many of our political appointees have lacked substance, so why were they elected?  Do those who voted for them also lack substance?  Do those who voted for them fulfill their own dreams by electing people like themselves who lack substance?  In other words they make the statement, “I identify with that individual because they have money and are therefore better like I am because of it!”  A bankrolled political celebrity is far different from a responsible citizen.
Political celebrities have nothing in common with the average American even though their wealth was attained from them.  Political celebrities often seek to deny that they are dependent on every American's standard of living.  In other words what they do not realize is that programs that achieve a higher standard of living for all Americans are really to their benefit also.  A simple example being, if you raise the standard of living you are likely to reduce crime and therefore become less likely to become a victim of crime yourself.  The same is true for education; if the population is better educated you are also less likely to become a victim of ineptitude yourself.  I could go on and on in the chain of analogies but I will let you think of them for yourself, because you I did not have to go too far to prove what a true statement that is.
