A person who is never going to be smart enough to drag themselves up out of the hole they created for themselves?
You can't do anything for them.
No amount of words you say to them are going to change their self destructive behavior because they are not smart enough to recognize self destructive behavior.
The best that you can do is not allow yourself to get dragged down in with them. Because you will end up like them. Per the principle of, you become what you are willing to put up with.
