If there is a tree with branches over water such as a lake or river 06 30 2018

If there is a tree with branches over water such as a lake or river will there be a tick in that branch over the water?

A tick doesn't want to miss falling on you and fall in the water?  Or is a tick confident enough it will fall on you in your boat?

Does a tick not go on a branch over water because it doesn't consider that there is a mammal on the surface of the water it can fall on?
