About Gun Control 08 17 2025

So this article touches on the legal responsibility of safekeeping.

The idea that if you didn't lock a gun up and someone shoots someone with it that it is your adult responsibility and hence your crime.

Perhaps if you were a descendent of organized crime it is more so?

So how far should the concept extend?  It indeed sets other legal precedents in and of itself.

For example if you have a sharp knife on your kitchen counter.  Perhaps it is a paring knife you use to remove the eyes of potatos with.  And your son or daughter invites a friend to the house.  And that other kid finds that knife and cuts themselves or stabs your kid with it???  It is your adult responsibility?

Should you be required to put a label on a knife that says it is "Sharp"?  Where would you put that label?

How come there isn't the common sense to believe that all knives are going to be sharp?

No transition that idea back to guns.  How come that dumb kid didn't know that all real guns can kill people?  Is that something he wouldn't be able to understand if you explained it to him or her?

So right there.  That last sentence.

So your child kills someone with a gun.  They played with it and pulled the trigger.  And you go to jail for it.

But wouldn't the better punishment for a father to be that the child is convicted and then flat out gone in sentencing?

But again to the critical sentence above.  Was that child told not to?  Is that something he wouldn't be able to understand if you explained it to him?

Now right there.  How can the responsibility fall on the adults shoulders if there is a child that would not be able able to understand something like that if you explained it to them?  And by default that is something they should have known?

But how?  Who would teach it to them?  Their father or mother.  But again, they should have understood that.

So how come we don't want to elevate that issue right there.  Something was told to that minor, they should have understood it.  How does that responsibility fall on the adults shoulders?

Are their children out there who can't be made to understand?  Was that conditioned into them by such parents?

If that was conditioned into the child, then it is the adults responsibility.

But that isn't a good adult who would set those negative expectations is it!  So why should the good adult be subjected to such a judgement?

Aha,  and here we have a lesser legal standard being applied to good Americans?  For the benefit of whoom?  And somewhere in here we have the idea that standards of normality are no longer valid in this country?

*****'

Are there more shooting because the people doing the shootings are emboldened by an immature leader that was highly successful?  I would say so.
