So I have a large chisel that is designed to be hit with a mallet. The handle is one piece and indicated by left bracket. The designation A in the diagram is what protects your hand while you hold the chisel lower than that and hit it with the mallet in your right hand.
That part just broke. A piece of tire cut to that shape on a bandsaw with a hole drilled to a diameter slightly less that the chisel striking end diameter would work very well. And that would be a good upcycling of and old tire piece.
