Luftwaffe 04 02 2022

Luftwaffe 04 02 2022

So after thinking about what Putin is going to use the Chernobyl radioactive waste for. And reading about how two Russian fighter jets fly near a Swedish Island armed with nuclear bombs. And the fact that 9 United States Littoral class battle ships made in Marinette Wisconsin at a cost of $500,000,000.00 a piece are non functional because they have a poorly designed gear transmission by a German Engineering Company...after all that I started to think about what German words mean.  (Also read about how Russia is hiring mercenaries from what is called the Wagner Group.)

For example what does Luft Waffa mean?

Luftwaffe? One would believe that luft means loft? And waffe means waffle? So a Waffle flying through the air?

Per an online translator:

Luft = air in English

Waffe= gun.

What is the German equivalent of words I commonly use?

Pike = Hecht (So when someone says oh heck, do they mean oh another Pike?)

How do you say cheesburger in German? It is just cheesburger.

What about pizza? And Pizza translates into Pizza. (so what is a word for the phenomenon of a modern English word not having a German form that is built up and different? Or the same with regard to any word that only translates into the same word in a foreign language, so that there isn't any ambiguity?)

Corn is Mais in German. Kind like the old commercial where the Indian gal says “We call it (corn) maze?”

Pen is Feder. (Feder coming from a quil with ink on the tip being the original pen?)

I am trying to understand something.

Paper is Papier. (almost a French version in German?)

Bread is Brot.

Lure is Koder. Why? To lure being to “color” something as being different?

Tank = Panzer, (from panther?)

Car= auto

care = sorge (almost looks like sore?)

Health = Gesundheit  (as in get you height or get you back on your feet?)

Water = Wasser (slurred English?)

Earth = Erde ( king of like a drunk might say it?)

Radio = radio

Radioactive = Radioaktiv

Run = laufen

Boat = boot

Eggs = eier

Juice = saft

Milk = milch

Cow = Kuh

Horse = pferd

rod = stange

bow = bogen

gift = geschenk ( almost sounds like givethanks)

Wheel = rad (radius as in circle)

hat = hut

brake = bremse

Bird = vogel

tree = baum

eat = essen

Coffee = Kaffee

bun = brotchen

pay = bezahalen (then what does halen mean in English? Don't know)

knife = messer ( almost looks like master?)

fork = gabel

Spoon = Loffel (almost ladel?)

Bicycle = Fahrrad (far run?)

pants= hose

skirt = rock (???)

And I am translating these just by typing the single word into an online translater.

Shirt = Hemd ( as in hemmed or sewed something up to wear?)

Window = Fenster ( a window really being a fence in some form of thought?)

can= dose ( to put something in a can means to apportion it?)

fast = schnell

speed = Geschwindigkeit ( get your kite into the wind?)

Okay that is all for now.
