1. The ability to apply common sense subjectively to the benefit of the public. This means you do not sit in your squad car and play the game of, who is the type of person that I was jealous of in high school type game! This means you go after the worst criminals first and you make that your focus. Your focus should not be like the popularity contest of who makes the best home coming queen and king. You should have far more self respect than that. I do not want to arrest and prosecute so and so because they are quite popular? If you ever think this way you should turn in your badge and head to another country, you have no business here! When you where that badge you are expected to uphold the public image of duty to the public. When we have the problems today with drugs and a low graduation rate, crime it becomes evident that you were motivated by something else. I want the crime lords put away or shot dead upon resisting apprehension with deadly force. And that also means rooting out the source of the drugs no matter how unpopular the idea may seem. And if there is an officer who is on the take and sets you up you have every right to shoot him dead if you are another officer! Do not even think twice about it because your loyalty does not reside with a police officer who will set you up to be killed. Your loyalty resides with the children of this country and their future. You send the crooked officers in first and you follow behind them through the drug house doors and if they turn on you with the gun give them a lead slug quick! Why? Because that is exactly what a crooked cop would do to you! And that is exactly the type of behavior that has to have been prevalent on our police force or we would not be in the shape we are in! We do not need to loose good police officers to bad ones! We need good police officers to have the strength to make the bad ones seek other careers!
2. The strength to apply common sense and go after the worst criminals first. This means the character and strength to fight crime like our greatest generation did when they all signed up to fight in the war when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

PS. I do not know what you do with a mind that is prone to crime when it gets out of prison and is likely to be a reaffender other than to seek to provide safe neighborhoods so that they do not develop in the first place.
