Why Can't Banks

Why can't banks make the due date for a credit card payment a date that will show up on the electronic payment system as a valid date and not a banking holiday?  Wouldn't this save the consumer time?
For example if the payment is due on a Thursday that is a Banking Holiday why can't the bank make the date on the statement read Wednesday or Friday?  Wouldn't it be easier if the consumer would be able to just plug the date on the statement into the online payment form without having to worry about the invalid date notice coming up?
