The Oil Companies 11 17 2011
The oil companies do indeed rule our country today. You cannot argue that Bush and Oil man did not take us to war in the Middle East. You cannot argue that we could have not been a clean energy country by today if we had started 35 years ago when photovoltaic cells were first commercially available.
I heard a great idea on the radio today. It was to say that the oil field off the coast of our country are indeed sovereign wealth owned. That means that the money from the oil goes directly into the bank accounts of the citizens of this country! And we contract with the oil companies to manage the wells and bring it to us!
Not only is this a great idea it is an idea that needs to be more widely adopted in this country! Utilities that pump mercury into our air and water? We should say how the electricity is generated not the income statement. We would have a lot cleaner environment if it was.
This was indeed the nature of the type of health care plan Obama promised us, one where the citizen is in power not the industry.
Cable TV and phone service also need to be sovereign services where the citizens vote what we should watch, not some evil scribe. It would seem that what we see on television serves as a model for how we should behave in this country, and a bad model.
Up until 150 years ago you had to prove that your corporation benefitted the country if you wanted to become incorporated. We need to reinstate that rule and use empirical evidence to apply in retroactively!!!!!!! And if you are a shareholder of such a company that does not benefit the country, that is your loss when this happens!!! The taxpayer should not further support you. And you know what types of companies I am talking about.
