What sustains a soul in heaven? It is not a life that was lived as luxury on earth.
What sustain’s a soul in heaven are memories you had on earth. I think that when the memories that you had while on earth fade to nothing while you are in heaven then you are reborn on earth. So therefore what sustains a life in heaven is a life of suffering on earth.
Jesus knew he was going to heaven and he did suffer while he was on earth.
So what is the best way to suffer on earth? It is to fight the good fight! Because when you fight the good fight you will have plenty of memories as those you fight will make you suffer! The best memories to have while in heaven then would be of fighting the good fight! And that is how Jesus knew where he was going. And if you lie to yourself about fighting the good fight when you didn’t really fight the good fight, you won’t make it to heaven!
And after a while in heaven you become very ashamed, as if no-one on earth remembers you and the good you tried to do. And you crawl into a corner of heaven, ashamed and start to cry because you were good and nobody cared. Then just then, is when you are sent to earth again!

Ps. If you want to say your good memories in heaven are sustained by the good memories people on earth have of you, and when they fade is when you come back to earth, that is true too.
