Sound Analysis Based Car Diagnostic Phone Application 05 21 2025

So indeed they have phone applications that allow you to general area microphone the noise of a bird and it will tell you what type of bird that is.

How about a phone app as based on this article title?  Such that.

It could identify the frequency and beat of a noise and tell you if that noised beat or frequency as it were increased as you increased the Rpms of a car?

It could have a diagnostic reference database with a high confidence comparison factor.

For example.  If you entered the vin of your car it would know the lengths of the timing chains in your car and tell you if the 1. rpm of the engine 2. the length of the timing chains.  Tells you through comparative movement cycle analysis if that noise is coming from the chain.  What am I getting at?  Sort of a gear reduction factor in the engine of a car, not the transmission.  This gear on the chain turns this many times and the cams therefore have a different sized gear so they don't turn the same amount ot time.  You plug that into the diagnostic created database and it can better pinpoint where the noise is coming from?

The app could also tell you with a quick scanning movement of your arm where the noise is louder in the engine bay, therefore helping you pinpoint it.

The app could provide known sounds of the problem your specific car has for you to just compare to by your own ear.

The app could have an app whereby the function of the app could be button pressed to indicate the analysis is being done while the car is moving.

And think if this were used in military protocol?  For like trucks and jeeps, and perhaps even helicopters?

To have such an analysis system built right into the dashboard?  Whereby...sounds kind of hokey doesn't it?  But perhaps it could catch a problem?
