If I can manually focus my camera faster than it can autofocus then it really isn't an auto focus camera!
Automatic Focus means just that! Point the camera and it is focused!
So perhaps a new nomenclature should be adopted to help the consumer find the best value for their money?
Since it really isn't autofocus. It needs to be labeled with a lesser term. Such as Camera Internal Protocol Focus, CIPF. Or Sensor Based Focus, SBF.
And in which case, lets presume SBF is used, then there should be ratings as to SBF speed of image target attainment and focus. So that one can compare how truly close SBF is to what should be termed Auto Focus.

An interesting point regarding this is who takes the "sell side" argument and who takes the "buy side" argument.
