Because we understood the meaning of the words better in order to use it to write a Superior form of Government.
Also the British English is more spoken in long vowels indicative of both mental retardation and I assert homosexuality.
I would go so far to say that the long vowels are consistent with genetic disorders whereby such individuals in power persecute the general upwardly mobile populous.
Bottom line we understood the meaning of the words better; hence our spoken version of it is better.
