If you want to know why a chemical is efficacious for whatever it is supposed to be efficacious for, look at a diagram of its chemical structure and analyze what elements are "hanging loose" on the perimeter of it. Likely those peripheral elements are what make it efficacious. The only parts to it might be considered a delivery system. And it could be vice versa, but I don't believe it is as likely. Vice Versa would mean those peripheral atoms in the chemical serve as a Trojan Horse for the rest of the chemical.
Are those elements on the perimeter of the chemical structure novel? Now compare the basic biological effects of those specific peripheral atoms in the chemical structure to what the chemical is being billed for. When you read what it being billed for and compare it to what the basic biological properties of that chemical are you will find they are the same. The rest of the structure is snake oil salesmen patenting and marketing. And it is genocidal to the American public.
Another way of looking at those chemicals is that they are like the "hitch" on a common train.
And here is the horror way to look at it. The Evil Chemist who asks the question, "How can I design a chemical that is only partially efficacious." In other words how can I treat an illness so that I don't cure it but rather create a lifetime annuity stream of money for myself.

Now ask yourself what is the criminal profile of someone who would do something like that? It isn't hard to figure out. They have something wrong with them. Something that they cannot change no matter how hard they try. Something that is a constant negative comparison to other people. It causes them to see the human race as objects and objectify them. As the only means of comparing themselves favorable.

Now let me explain how to analyze a chemical structure a little more. You take a look at a diagram of it. They are readily available on Wikipedia. Now draw a tiny stick figure of a man with stick arms and legs and head. Now compare that stick figure to the chemical structure. The hand on the stick figure is what you are looking for on the chemical structure.
Much of this crooked business is taking Carbon atom whose periodic table off elements symbol is C as your base chemical. And adding to it atoms with known efficacy. Carbon being stated to be the basic building block of life.
But lets say that you wanted to duplicate a pharmacy chemical that had two elements of chlorine and one of nitrous oxide? How could you do that naturally?
You would find the foods that naturally contain high levels of chlorine.
