It comes from his mother constantly interrupting and disrupting his "natural stream of conscious thought," because he is male and she isn't and want to capture that and be like it. Or to degrade that nature to the point where it is something she isn't jealous of?
In effect that is what puts him into a lifetime world of delusion; if indeed he didn't have a genetic predisposition to be that. But indeed the process does altar his genes after he is born! Just as sleep deprivation and viruses can. No one ever wants to talk about threats to the human genome and species; why is that a taboo to talk about? Has to do with the temperance movement and WWII doesn't it.
