Who Do You Know that Can Fix the Problem 02 10 2013

We ought to be able to lobby or petition our Cable Television Operators to get better people on television.
As I sit there and watch I say, “I wouldn’t pay to listen to them talk so why am I?”
And what does this lead to?  Take those who comment on politics and Government. They talk about the left and the right.  They argue in negativity, “We can’t do this.  We can’t do that.” Etc.
And after awhile of that they have created a self fulfilling prophecy for the whole entire country!
“The we can’t, we can’t,” translates into something like, “We can’t deliver mail on Saturday anymore.”
Maybe if discretionary income was never funneled into the pockets of those who promote “We can’t,” then…”We could.”
Which gets you back to the question, “Why should anyone have ever paid to listen to you?”
We ought to be able to lobby to broad brush change the whole cast of who is on television.  It can never be who you know it must be a what you know that gets on television.
What is there answer to that?
“We can’t.”
Which leads to the next question, diminished and lost skills in the United States. “We can’t answer that.”
As you go through life one thing you might learn to get out of it is the question you ask yourself, “So and so responded to my question but did they really answer it?”  It means a lot more to answer a question then to respond to it.  Responding is more like a cat swatting a fly that lands on its nose while it is sleeping?
Answering means that you have full recognition of what was asked and the validity of the concern.  Answering means that you respect the question and the validity of the concern represented by it.
And indeed the best question to ask someone is one where you give them the full opportunity to take the path of the sound premise that was implied in the question.
The who you know standard leads to an entrenchment less than mediocrity.  And what is who you know?  It is ensuring the safety of your own incompetence.  It is really an admission that you didn’t belong there in the first place and only seek to save those who will support you and not the profession.
And the what you know standard representative of meritocracy can never come from a who you know standard of Education and subjective who you know grading.  In other words the more you pay for a college education seems to bear no real relevance to what you know from empirical evidence.  It has not been good for the United States.
Instead, he who you know standard of equates to, who will you get rid of that challenges the who you know standard.  And this indeed lessens the what you know standard.  He was smarter than us and challenged us so we got rid of him through attrition.  The whole of the United States has been ground down by that same attrition.

Who do you know that can fix the problem? :)

  1. It implies democratically voting people off of television doesn't it?
That is something that has not really been considered before. Been when you consider the fact that television has become the greater part of our political and governmental process we indeed need to be able to vote people off of television entirely. Or vote them on.
