If an evil King has you in his dungeon you can't save the people!
I can remember in Catholic School they preached to us, to some of us, that things that were outside of our control were our fault. This can only be said to have been done so as to benefit those who would live off the mind of a scapegoat? It didn't seem like it was meant to be said to be applicable to everyone.
We grow up thinking we are responsible for the entire world when indeed it is those who would prevent us from being responsible who are indeed responsible for the worlds problems.
Sometimes we are intentionally held back from helping when we should really be first. Might be called an obstruction to human progress.
What is indeed a valid principle for one person is not for another. For example for one type of person when they help themselves they are helping others. For another type of person when they help themselves they are hurting others!
Sometimes it isn't our fault.
